Dodgeball Club Finds Summer Fundraising Success

As they say, money makes the world go ‘round, and when trying to run an efficient dodgeball organization this is no exception. One of the things that has plagued the Dodgeball Club at VCU, and many other clubs around the country, is a lack of financing for basic club functions such as travel, uniforms, etc. The financial strain for some teams makes it difficult to compete at the highest level, and especially difficult to even run basic operations.

Thankfully, as a result of effective leadership, the club team at VCU has been making great strides over the course of the summer to help lessen the financial burden. The Rams have completed various activities such as group volunteering at King’s Dominion, selling Richmond Flying Squirrels tickets, and hosting a restaurant fundraiser at Deep Run Roadhouse in Richmond. As a result of these efforts, the team has already raised over $1,300, something that they never planned on having in the past. It is a testament to the dedication and effort put forth by the team, and shows that the program is only moving upwards.

The team is still looking to do even more during the offseason period, and are hoping to raise $2,000 by the end of August. One particular fundraiser to look forward to will come at the end of August on Sunday August 28th at Home Team Grill in The Fan. During the hours of 4-8 PM, 10% of the total bill for all meals by patrons that mention the Dodgeball Club at VCU will go towards the club. The club will also be showcasing some of their information as well, and provide a meet and greet session for any VCU students that are interested in joining the organization.
